Adamsdad - I'm glad you shared about the reoccurance of the initial grief. Most of the time when I come one Navy Moms I tear up at some point. There are also lots of triggers throughout the day that have the same effect. Luckily it's not constant anymore and seems to be getting a little better. At least I understand it more and this website has shown me that it's totally a normal response.

Ok, is anyone else having a real reoccurance of the initial grief? I was doing much better for weeks and then today, I am walking around on the verge of tears all day. And I am a DAD and a former Marine, for pete's sake!

khoov - Thanks for the idea! I know, food might be good there, but there's nothin' like momma's home cooking! :-)

Beans work really well in the crock pot too. All of the ingredients can be taken dry, except the meat, which I'm sure you can find nearby. You could probably even make jerky to use for meat if you want to take all the stuff with you. Also, if you are going to make stuff ahead of time with your dehydrator fruit rollups and beef jerky are great and would be easy to take with you. The last time I made jerky my sr ate the entire bag in one day. Thanks for the reminder, I need to make some soon to mail to FIL to take to PIR with him. My sr has been writing about wanting some of my cooking even though he likes the food there.

Since I'll be flying in, how far away is the Wal-Mart?
Comment by Jen - Ship10mom(Div340) on September 28, 2010 at 12:05pm
Yeah - I can believe that! I imagine we'll probably go to Red Lobster once as SR mentioned that, and when we were there last time, it was delicious!! Yum Yum Yum. But otherwise - no so hot. Food court at the mall not really my idea of 'good food'. We hardly ever eat out of a box or can at home, so a week or weekend of highly processed food turns us all inside out. Wish we had a deer in the freezer, I could make jerky - oooh- so yummy!! :-) Can you tell it's lunch time?

Thanks all! Not sure if we have fridge -thought I'd have to bring a cooler. I'll have to call LaQuinta and find out. We stayed there a couple months ago, but I don't remember...Shredded pork sounds yummy - haven't eaten yet and my mouth is watering now - thanks alot!! :-)

@ship10mom do you have fridge. I've done ribs and pot roast in my crock pot.

Well... our hotel does not have kitchenette so... I'm going to have to get creative w/ packing a cooler, crock pot & paper plates I think. I've got fried chicken I'll make ahead of time (can eat that cold, and it's SR Favorite!!), CrockPot lazagna (can fry hamb. ahead of time and just throw everything in)... Lunch meat of course and bread...anyone else w/ any ideas for crock-pot?? Gonna try and stay Tues and Wed, and try not to spend much $$, cause there won't be much to spend...I'll have to get out the dehydrator this week too I think... OK - looking for ideas!
