For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

And week4 day 5 means they are in their 4th week and 5th day of training. Everything is scheduled. Sundays are considered holidays. You can figure out when they are scheduled for some things like battlestations if you know what day he wrote the letter and he tells you battlestation are on a specific week and day such as 7-3. I hope that makes since.

9/23 Mom, The past few nights they've given us mandatory letter writing time. I think I'm out of stamps so send me some more pre-made envelopes. In one letter you said I can only read letters on Sundays. Actually I can read them any day. We got back, folded, and stowed all our uniforms today from second issue. I'm hoping I got sharp shooter so I have something to put on the peanut butters. I was shooting for expert, but it was my first time shooting a 9mm. We took pictures yesterday so Grandpa should be getting that whenever. .....We took test 2 today so I'm pretty sure that means we're on 4-5 day. I still have a few weeks but I do eventually need to know who's coming to my graduation so I can know whether to give my spots away to people who need them for graduation. I heard about an attempted terrorist attack in Chicago our RDC's told us about it.

Oh, Monday nite football on TV, an ESPN reporter in Chicago had on a winter coat, hubby checked the temp and it's 58 there; not really winter coat weather but I guess we need to be ready for anything on 10/8!

HarmonyWorks, I'm camera shopping too, hoping to get a better camera with a telephoto lens, but may end up borrowing my sisters if she'll lend it to me for the weekend!

Still haven't printed out the pass, gonna do that next.

I am so hopoing for a phone call from my SR, too many questions to ask!!!

Did you know that when your sailor comes home on leave the first time they can work at the recruiting office for up to 5 days and those days won't count against their leave? So if they are home for 10 days and work for 5 of those days they only use 5 days of their leave. That leaves 5 days to use later :) cool huh?

My SR and everyone else in the DIV get's punished because of 15 kids that keep talking and don't care to graduate..On one of the letters I received on Friday he said they would be calling on Friday and they NEVER did! You can imagine how frustrating it feels when you don't hear from you husband...But God is giving me the strength to get through these 10 days.......
