Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Want to make sure that ALL new members here are aware of the Meet & Greet, and that we have a separate group started to keep track of how many of us 10-08-10 PIR memebers will be there.

Sorry but your boss is a total Jerk, I don't like him and I don't even know him, how dare he do that to you and I hope you were really mean to him. I would have made the same decision you did I don't care what I have to do to get to PIR I will be there. Is there a supervisor above him that you can go to? You will be in my prayers and I'm willing to help in any way I can.

FYI - I would have made the same decision as you did! The next opportunity to come your way will no doubt be one better suited for you! Comment by Karen1913 (Ship 10, Div 336) on September 27, 2010 at 1:24pm: I would suggest that anyone with SR's that are going to A School at Great Lakes check out the Great Lakes A School Q&A site under groups (Navy for Moms). Information regarding safety that we should be aware of and to pass along to our SR's. It appears that the area around the base is not very safe - especially to sailors. I encourage you to check it out.
