My son was the same way. He didn't pack a thing or change a thing before leaving for bootcamp and said "leave everything just the way it is". His younger brother is at college and his room looks empty and our recruit's room looks the same! Then again our recruit didn't take much when he was in college so not much has changed there... I try to run with that thought and trick myself into thinking he is at college. Wishful thinking!

Vicki - I haven't heard anything about a black back pack. My son is going to Goose Creek for A School, and just asked that I mail what he needs after he gets there and can give me an address. Sorry I can't help you.

WeCanDoThis - they will post all of the honors on the RTC website - look under Families/Graduation/Honor Graduates.

it was just kinda weird....I know the kid is intelligent, but I just thought "man, he doesn't realize he's not going to be back tomorrow" I wasn't going to be the one to tell him. It did seem like he was just going away for a scout campout and would be back in a few days. weird

Maddy - can you message me the info to write to the two guys who need mail? I messed up and didn't add the message requesting this info when I sent you a friend request and now I can't send you a message. I'll get a letter out to these guys right away.

Mom2nw- When my son left for bc I had the same feeling, which is weird because he had already moved out of our house. The first move-out didn't seem to count since he was just staying at my mom's house across town. It didn't feel very permanent and he left everything in his bedroom as if he was coming home that night. The other day my daughter did the final cleanout of his (now her) old bedroom and washed the rest of his clothes (the few he didn't give away), tossed out the tons of water bottles he left next to the weight bench, and put the rest of his stuff in the closet. It felt very final at that point for me.

The bad part for us is that my other son decided to take his brothers place at my mom's house a couple of weeks after he left for bc. Their high school is right next to her house and he got tired of living so far away from the school so he wanted to be over there for his senior year to be closer to friends and activities. So, I sort of lost both sons at the same time. This is the first time in years that I feel like we could actually be ok in a smaller house. At least I have pretty constant contact with one and with bc almost over hopefully will have more contact with the other.

Judy,
Your right I have been crying more than usual, it's tough on us and tougher on our SR's mine said he does not want to get in any trouble or sick so he doesn't get held back his words "I just want to get the H#** out of here and get to A school" so extra prayers that everything goes well for each and every one of them.
Comment by Judy Proud Mom on September 25, 2010 at 8:21pm
I think alot of us are having a case of the "sads". I think the closer it gets, the more nervous we get. And it doesn't help that almost all of our SR's are either currently sick, or have been sick. We need to all stick together moms, we can do this! Next Thursday starts BS21, so lets all start praying! Not just for our own Div, but every night for ALL DIv. And pray for all of us as well, that we can all stay sane, and calm(ish) lol, during the next 12 days.

@skeeter85, my son is in an all male division (special ops) so I'm sure they are harder on those guys! :) Happy you got your phone call!
