A year ago...a day I was dreading. Today, my son has grown and so have I.  He's suddenly an adult and I have learned to let go (?maybe!).  I am so proud of the man he has become.

Nick is now a Seabee, an EO (Equipment Operator) stationed in Gulfport, MS, after attending A school at an army base in Missouri. He most likely will be in Afghanistan in spring. He is enjoying playing on the big boy toys and assures me every time we talk that the Navy has trained him well and that he is safe. (okay, kid, but I still worry!)

Part of my growing is directly attributed to this site and all the wonderful, wonderful people I have met here.  It made me a little bit more 'in the know', and calmed me from my irrational fears. It has bonded me to strangers who are now friends and made me more compassionate to those in more dire situations than myself. Thank you for including me in your lives. ~Linda

It hardly seems possible that it has been a year already.  Justin switched from ET to Cryptology and has been in Pensacola FL for A School.  Graduated last Friday.  On hold for a few weeks - will be home on the 25th for about 10 days and then off to San Angelo, TX (Goodfellow Air Force Base) for C School.  Orders, as of now, are to then go to Ft. Meade in Maryland for 2 years.  He has grown up so much (as all of them have).  He likes the Navy but is ready to be out of school.

Judy - stay strong.  If your son keeps at it he will find the right path for himself - hope it can be the Navy.

Thank you everyone for all your support.  Miss the daily (hourly) updates but know everything keeps changing.  So glad to hear from all of you.

Wow 1 year has passed since boot camp, Brittany left August 10th. With her on night duty for 2 months we talk a little less, she is working at night and sleeping during the day. She is growing up alot and learning about people in how they treat her. With her a a primary male job, she has suffered some sexual harrassment, this has unnerved her to the end. She has become stronger through it and was not going to let the guys to treat her different. So needless to say, my daughter has developed the "navy attitude" and mouth. I have to ask her to tone it down when she does come home to visit.

She just told me good news, all her quals are done to fill out her packet to start college courses, she is excited as am I.  She told me just this eve that she wants to go for the Officers rank, she wants to be one of the only female that men cannot talk down to at all. You know tuff stuff is going on there for her to make that decision.

Thanks to all of you for your support thru boot camp and up to now, I could not have done it without you!! We have a great group here. Love to all.

Glad everything is going ok for all of you, I am keeping my Navyformoms profile for awhile longer as my son is trying to get back in. to those if you who have been and still are supportive, I thank you. I have had to look elsewhere for answers since my son came home, because I can't seem to find them here. Luckily he has a new recruiter who is willing to find answers for him. Glad all of you made it through the first year, and hope all your sailors stay safe.

It's 3 days away from being one year that our kids shipped off to boot camp - wow!  I know that my household has changed, matured and grown much in the last year, it has been quite a ride, that's for sure!  :-)

Miss the amount of comm. between us all - but I cannot say I miss that insanely panicky, empty, helpless feeling I had during the BC weeks though!

Then again - it was a good thing too, if not for our collective NEED for understanding, info, comradery (sp), and a safe place to sound off - we would not have had the priviledge of meeting each other and forming life-long bonds of another family - I am so grateful for that!! :-)

My Sailor is deployed aboard the USS Stennis - until late winter / spring-ish... cannot wait to see that boy young man again!  Well, love to Y'all and have a wonderful wonderful day!!

yes wow 8 months later and my son finally made it out of GL. he was med dropped from pre buds. headaches while from holding his breath under water. kind of a important thing if you want to be a seal. He will be home Saturday for a couple weeks then off to Virginia Beach for his next adventure.

Hello all my Navy Mom friends!  Has it really been more than 8 months since our PIR?  Can you believe it.  I miss you all like crazy.  My sailor finished his A school, then was off to FMF training.  He is stationed at Camp Lejeune and is currently at 29 Palms for predeployment training.  He comes home next week, then will be deployed at some point with his Marine Unit, as their corpsman.

Love and miss you all!
