judy my son just went across the street with his division due to paperwork, but while he was waiting he was staying with 120 kids waiting to move on for some reason or another. sickness, injuries or not passing. although it is frustrating they dont seem to be having too bad of a time. tv, movies. bootcamp heaven I think they call it. he will be fine and he will pass. keep us posted

I have no clue. Just a short five minute call to tell us that he had a PFA on Friday and would do battle stations next Thursday/Friday regardless of if he passed or not, then if he still hadn't passed run he would keep on working on it till he did. I don't even know when I will hear from him again

If it's not to much to ask, could I ask for prayer for my SR. He should have PIRed with your sailors, but was held back because of pneumonia. He has still not been able to pass his run. Any prayer for him would be appreciated

Navy Lodge

Comment by navy25 on October 16, 2010 at 4:12pm
Hi to All, trying to find out info about the Navy Lodge at Great Lakes, it was the best decision I made in staying there this past weekend on 10/8/10 and hoping if I get to visit my son there again to stay there. We went to my sons PIR which was totally awesome and staying at the Navy Lodge was a breeze to the Naval Station is 1.5 miles away from PIR its located on Meridian drive and from there you make a right on Buckley Road (main street where Naval Base is located) you get on the middle lane of the road and just follow and you'll be directed on how to enter base day off PIR we left the Lodge at 6:05am about 50 cars in front of us already)and by 6:30am we were in the parking lot showing our ID's make sure you have them out and the pass is on your dashboard by driver side (also make sure you have that pass for the entire time youll be with your Sailor so that way you can go in and out of base to pickup/drop him off)Also they Navy Lodge has a Breakfast to Go Bag that they put out every morning between 6am til 9am small bagel/cream cheese bottle of Orange Juice and a granola bar and in lobby excellent coffee 24 hours around the clock that totally came in handy. Our room was very clean 2 comfortable queen beds small table a desk.HD flat TV small fridge and microwave bathroom small but we were 3 in our room and had no complaints. The area is in a residential area I believe where Navy families live and there is a NEX Mini Market and Gas Station close by which if you ask at front desk they can give you a temporary card that allows you to buy there is like a grocery store extremely convinient. On site plenty of parking safe area and the grounds are kept neatly with an area for eating outside under umbrellas and the children a play area in the back. The area is also close by to the other places like Gurnee Mall fun place also a movie theater there and the Rainforest Cafe I think they even have an Ice skating ring also close by the other NEX store(the bigger store) on Green Bay road thats off Buckley Road and on this road you can also find the Lock and Go place (we recommended it the guy who took care of my son was very honest) We found the Navy Lodge terrific and make sure you tell them you are there for PIR and they discount your room we only paid $65 a night which abled us to stay there longer plus the Staff very friendly the front office girl Brenda who took care of us was so nice and helpful on giving us directions. Also when we had to drop off our son after liberty very convinient that we were only 10 minutes away. So we had a good experience and would stay there again.Maria,Navy25
