Letter came but still hoping, waiting for a phone call...

Got a letter he sounds good and with his good sence of humor. He said he was made "Section Leader #3" and said it was cool he gets to wear a device as E5... (what does this mean?). His friend is very funny. He also commented about how good the food is nd how much he gets to eat... Just for bfast; eggs, bacon, or sausage, nd sometimes a pancake too, some yogurt with fruit , a banana nd a pb&j lol (nd here I'm thinking he is not going to like it... ;)

Info shared by the base where we're stationed - good for ALL families of those in the military to be aware of...

I know that a lot of people like to put countdowns on facebook or other social media pages, saying how excited they are until their Sailor (or Soldier or Marine or Airman) gets to come home, and we are all proud of and love our military members, and we all face many of the same struggles that go with the military lifestyle.  And yes, it's our page, and these are our friends and family, and we should be able to say what we want and how we feel, but..... Here's a good article that talks about…

Delay in His Orders.

My son is set to graduate his A School on Monday the 17th. He has been given his verbal orders. He will be in Lemoore Ca. He is excited about this. Lemoore is only 90miles from home. He will be able to still be at home on weekends. I as a mom am happy about this, I do also feel bad for him. He wanted to see the world. He is now sharing with me that he may not be home for a few weeks. Says that there is a delay in hard copies (official orders). He says that the Navy is basically out of money.…

A New Journey Begins

My Sailor classed up at his A school today. My husband, daughter, and I now begin a new journey with our Sailor.

We know he will do well with his classes and that the next 18-24 months will go by fast. We are blessed that he is only 5 hours away from us as compared to the 14 hours when he was at boot camp. …

My son shipped out today to bootcamp.

Are there any other moms whose son or daughter shipped out today? It was wonderful to be there and see him commit himself to service. I am so proud. He is very excited to begin this journey. This is comforting to me to know he really wants to do this!

September 11

I was home alone tonight (technically) and decided to watch the TLC special on 9/11. I watched for a while, maintaining my original (prior to Justin's going away to BC) emotional control. We have a large-screen TV, probably similar to those found in many middle class homes in America. I was lying on the couch, just watching...then...then...wow...

I glanced up to the right of the screen JUST A LITTLE...where the picture of my son hangs -- his senior picture: leaning against a tree in…

I have two sons, both joined the Navy. My youngest, 18, left today, will get to Great Lakes tomorrow. My older son, 20, will leave on October 3rd. This site really helps, information helps the anxiety.

NOW READ THIS!

I'm not asking you to read this blog! Although I do appreciate being read by you.

I'm suggesting a couple of books that you, your SR's parents or siblings might enjoy reading. I found out about these books by reading a blog by another Navy Mom written ages ago. My husband has been enjoying reading these and I think they provide us with a little comfort in learning what our SR is learning. And seeing a little into boot camp life  is never a bad thing, as we're all pretty much out of…
