While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My Corpsman Son

I would like to know if there is anyone else out there going through the same issues as I am. My son left 3 weeks ago for Afghanistan. He will be gone for 7 months. I think I cried for weeks before he left and now I cry constantly. He is going to be at a combat outpost in a very volatile area with only a handful of Marines. Overwhelmed

I signed up to this site because my son is leaving for boot camp January 5. I feel very overwhelmed by all the posts, photos, videos, chat groups etc. Help!!! Can somebody tell me what I should do here to feel not so overwhelmed??

Got my first letter!!

Just got my first letter on Saturday!! He said it was tough but that he is doing fine, I know it wasn't much but it took a huge load of my shoulders just hearing that he's okay and not ready to go AWOL!!!! I'm so proud and can't wait for the next letter....

YAY!

Its funny how life works out. The day after a melt down I get his form letter and everything feels better again. I cant wait to get the next letter, thats all I need. Just a letter to make me feel close and now Im on his mind. I am so ready for the next 6 weeks to finally be over and be able to see him but its all still worth it :) oh Im so happy tonight. Nothing can stand in my way...at least not until the next big meltdown and then letter recieving lol

Bootcamp

Well I dropped my son off last night at the hotel and he will go to MEPS today then fly to Great Lakes. I felt like a piece of me was gone because him and I have always had a close bond. I am afraid that the bond will not be as strong any more. I know that eight weeks go by fast but it doesn't make it easier. I Love You Sailor

You know that sick feeling you first felt when your sailor walked away from you either to the car to take them to the airport or you actually watched that airplane take off towards chicago. one of the hardest thing i've gone through

The End Is Near

Well my sailor is officially that... a sailor. She completed MEPS yesterday. She will leave for basic training on July 17th after graduation. Two months ago graduation was all she talked about. Now it is just an event to get through before she leaves on her life adventure. Her dad and I are so proud.....

2nd letter

I enjoyed the letter I received today. My SR wrote 4 different days on it before he mailed it so I could really see his mood improve! He wrote that he had received my mail and that it was great to get. I still miss him alot, but it helps to see his little hand writing.

Tell Me Already!

I just want to know his PIR date!! Is that too much to ask? Gah! International Rate plans - For our Sailor's on Missions/Deployments

Well we made it through Bootcamp, PIR'd on 8/12 - an experience that no loved one should miss. We drove 1340 miles up from Texas. Left on a Tuesday before graduation and didn't receive the "i'm graduating" call till be crossed the Illinois line on Thursday, you could say "We went on a wing and a prayer". Each Day Gets A Little Bit Easier

So my fiance, Eric, left for basic training on 11/01/11. The first day after he left was honestly the worst day of my life. I could not stop crying, and his mom had to literally pull us off of each other to make him go. Watching him walk down the hall way towards his travel briefing was so traumatic, but at the same time made me so proud to see my baby taking the first step towards his dream of being a US Sailor.
