Size of Envelopes at Boot Camp

Help Please...I have spoken to my son and he sounds wonderful. But he has said that letters are very important like his recruiter had told us and that it is hard to see people get lots of mail while others get nothing. I know they are allowed letters, cards, and pictures. Can I send a large manila envelope with a few Christmas cards in it that my son can handout to those who have not received any mail?  I don't want to get him in any trouble or give him extra pushups :{  Any advice would be…

Moving Forward

It's been almost a month since JT graduated boot camp. Now, he is in "a" school. I still miss him like crazy and it is soooo hard to not call or text him 50 billion times a day. Some days are harder than others. Prayers are keeping me going. I know he is safe in "A" school and not deployed yet, and having a ball!! But I still miss him so much.

He has grown into such an awesome man.... The Navy has really changed him and made into an awesome person. ( not that he wasn't before) he talks… Continue

Holiday Sadness - Reaching Out

It's been awhile since I've logged on.  Much has happened since then, including the long illness and subsequent loss of my father in June.  My son went on to A-school, and then C-school for preventative medicine, both in San Antonio.  Now he's in Hawaii at Pearl Harbor, and a mother couldn't be more happy for her boy!

However, now I'm facing a Christmas utterly alone.  With dad gone, Dylan so far away, and no family to speak of nearby, the solitude really hit me today.  I've lost so…

Phone calls

I have missed every phone call from my son and I am very frustrated. Can I know more or less when they are allowed to make phone calls so I know I need to be on alert and pay more attention to the phone?

Dec PIR

Does anyone have the actual graduation date for division #042?

Do all the sailors get vacation time off after Dec. 29? What are the actual vacation days?

Have they earned any money to get home if the base is closed for the holidays?

Do sailors get some time off to be with their parents after PIR?

How do other divorce families handle graduation?

I know this was an issue during High School Graduation because we both wanted to take him out to  dinner…

Happy

Even though my son was at Boot Camp for Thanksgiving, I'm so excited that he will be home for Christmas. Yesterday he called, it was so great to hear his voice. Looking forward to attending his PIR. I can't wait to see him in a couple weeks! His sister, girlfriend, my Husband and myself are so very proud of him!!

A boy into a mam (Revised)

It truly amazes me the difference I detect in our son now.  His sense of pride, commitment and courage are shinning through. We no longer have to be the ones asking all the questions and getting only one word responses. It's so refreshing to have him tell us everything that's he's been doing to include trials and tribulations. He was proud that he fills one of the Division positions of Yeoman (there are four positions, from what I understand) and he felt confident along with the other SR's…

Regarding the post A boy into a man

I sincerely apologize for mentioning any names, was thinking with my heart and not my head. I will not let that happen again. Thank you for bringing the error to my attention.
