Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

akmom - my son is a Nuke too. This is a group for Nuke Moms here, but most of the information is over my head yet. Fun to poke around every once in awhile though.

Comment by Mom3 on August 27, 2010 at 10:27pm: Whew you are also an empty nester on top of this..I think she did make a good choice too. My son did a short semester at college and decided he did not like it at all. He checked in with the Navy recruiter and they wanted him as a nuke. go figure. He has worked in a steal yard for the long dep period and was very ready to go. But i do miss my short son visit at night.

Comment by OhioNavyMama on August 27, 2010 at 10:20pm: lol well she is my only child so she didn't have to compete with anyone else haha. and yes im very proud of her. she did 2 yrs of college and even tried the police academy, but really couldn't find what she was looking for. i think she made a good choice with the military and she's a strong person so i have no doubts that she will do very well.

Oh and i have a daughter, not a son haha. you can see her on my page if u'd like. lots of pics of my baby :) her letter today sounded really upbeat and she was joking so that was a relief. idk if i could stand to get a depressing letter from her. she said she really likes a few of the girls she is with and they are helping each other out, so im happy she has that support too.
