I am definitely interested in the ribbons and want to participate in the M & G. I don't think it matters too much where it is as long as everyone know where it will be. I have heard that the Ramada is very dark and pricey but don't have any personal knowledge. Count me in if you need any help. We plan to check into our hotel on Wednesday afternoon.
I didn't get a letter today either. I practically knocked the mailman down getting to the mailbox. Sure hope there's one tomorrow.

I have been using a "form" letter I created on my computer. On one side, I have the weather almanac for the day (temps, sky condition, precipitation), and then I either do a bible verse, comic, riddle, inspirational quote, or copy posts from his facebook. Today was the first day of the MN State Fair, so I included trivia related to that. Then I print it and handwrite a letter on the back. I have seen ideas previously on the site about including local news (from small towns) or local sports scores if your SR is interested in that. I used to write quotes on his white board in his room so that is something special between us. That way, my own notes can be short, mostly just updates for the day. I like the idea of a letter from the pets. I may do that tomorrow.

I like the idea of coordinating the ribbons. I would love to have it sooner than later so I can wear it now. I like the navy ribbon with gold. I'm in a 300 Division, so I can't comment on whether the 800 and 900 should be different from the 300 - I don't have a preference.

just so you know, they have mail call every day except Sunday. and they will tell you the more letters the better lol. They don't have any other contact with the outside world. So keep writing!!!!

I have a helpful tip about letter writing. I've been mailing katlyn everyday as well and yes its hard to know what to say when u said everything the day before. I have cut my "letters" to every couple days...when I have new things to tell her. On the days I don't write a letter, I send her just a note that says "i love you and im thinking about you today", "your sisters said to tell you ty for their new bed" (her sisters are her dogs who have taken over her bed haha) or "believe in yourself...you can do it"...etc. Even a small scripture or a funny printed out saying works. You have to consider that if we mail them everyday...they are still only getting those letters once a week and thats alot to read and take in. So even if every other envelope is one line of some special thought...they know we are thinking about them everyday.

Hope that helps and makes sense haha :)

You may have heard this already but when i ran out of things to write about I wrote a letter to my daughter from her cat. It was if he was writing the letter. He told her that he was starving and no one cared, his food was rationed (this cat is huge lol) and no one understood him like she did. He was thinking about coming to find her and maybe join the navy but since he wasn't allowed outside he didn't know if he could pull it off. It was so funny and she loved it. You can also post a comment on his/her facebook and tell all friends to leave a message there and then you can copy and paste them and send them to your recruit. I also wrote about our crazy neighbors lol. They don't care what you write about, just write!!!!

Judy, this has been an unexpectedly tough night for me too. I have been writing a letter every day since my SR left, and tonight I had a hard time coming up with something to say. I just wanted to ask questions, but I already sent one of the questionnaires, so I just stared at the page. Finally figured something out, but I think I am just missing him more today. Hang in there - a letter will come.
