For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

YES - send a "dear recruit" letter to your son and ask him to hand it to someone who isn't getting mail. I have been doing that for over 2 months now. One of my adopted sailors graduated last week, we have been emailing and sending photos. I have adopted over 15 sailors so far and it is truly the most amazing feeling to make a difference in someone's life. Go for it girl!!!!!!

He's not much of a writer but I know we will eventually get something. That's ok, I too would much rather he have stuff coming from us for support. I try to ask him questions so that he will have something to write.

Comment by Lilly(JG Corpsman) on August 26, 2010 at 7:31pm: I didn't receive any letter today either.... :( I thought they had to wait 2 wks of being in BC before they were allowed to write letters... Also, I heard that the girls sleep within a couple of ft from them, is that true?

Comment by OhioNavyMama on August 26, 2010 at 7:21pm: Ladies I have a tip for you if you're making reservations for the Navy Lodge!!! I called for reservations and was told they didn't have any rooms with kitchens left, so I had to go ahead and make it anyways, so we dont get stuck without a room. I then went and checked online....it showed room with kitchen available, so i made it online and called back to confirm the room type and canceled the one i made on the phone. Price was the same $65 a nite. So try to make it online first if you're looking for that room with a kitchen.

Anyone know how it works if more then the listed four attend PIR?
I read that anyone more then the 4 that have tickets have to wait tell after the ceremony has started, then they are allowed in to fill any open area, if any remain.
