A bit of raw-emotion philosophy

Okay - so I might just be going through one of those "okay, he's in BC now and the journey is really just beginning so I better get a grip" Acceptance phases but felt the need to share all the same..........so, having taken a deeeeeeeep breath I offer the following for you to ponder on:

Sadness is only an emotion

An emotion is merely a thought

A thought is a controllable action

.....an action, that when leading to sadness,…

My son is coming home

I talked with him today...he is done.  He has decided he will not appeal the discharge and will be home within 10 business days.

Of course, I will be in Hawaii which has me second guessing my trip.  Thank goodness, my daughter will be home.…

Hard to believe that I get to see him next week!!!

10 1/2 days to go until graduation and I cannot begin to explain how excited I am to see my son! We will be driving up there on Thursday (Aug. 23rd) and staying through the weekend.

I had a really bad night last Thursday and just sobbed for awhile. I had been worried about Josh all day because it was tear gas chamber day! He used to get really bad migraines and I was so concerned that it would make him sick. Then, I heard a song that just made me absolutely crumble... "Letters from…

Wow... A year already

My recruit has been in now just over a year... Seems like it was just last month when he left home. He's doing well, stationed in Hawaii, and has made another rank!! For all of the parents of new recruits, hang in there!! I never thought I'd get used to having that kid out of the house, but I have. Im even thinking of turning his room into.. hmmmm... still thinking about that. LOL In the meantime,

Be Blessed!

PIR 8/10/12

Graduation was the most amazing and emotional graduation I have ever been to. My son was so handsome. (all the Sailors were) The hardest part was him going back to base Friday nite. When he hugged me tight and got in the car and told me he loved me the tears started flowing.

The saddest part....

This is my son's journey and as much as I've gotten involved or not been involved enough....I did find this website and I did meet some wonderful women....so the saddest part is not if my son will heal and stay in the or out of the navy....it is there is a possibility I won't be a Navy Mom anymore and these women I have meet....will become just another memory.…

Mixed Emotions

I didn't ask how his knee was...I was in total shock...I couldn't believe what I was hearing.  He said he would see another doctor to find out if this medical discharge was…

The next step has begun

Last weekend my family and I attended the PIR or graduation ceremony for my son and the other recruits. If anyone is reading this and considering whether or not to go, GO! The ceremony was impressive. When the Sailors started marching in, I became teary. The sound of the feet marching in step, watching them parade past the families and dignitaries, listening to them call out the Sailor's Creed in unison all are experiences you should have. The video clips do not do it justice. I hope…

Stolen credit card

Anyone ever have an issue with fraud/stolen credit card with their sailor while on deployment? Good thing we have power of attorney and we were able to cancel the card but getting new one to him is such an issue. I think there was a problem with an ATM in port and someone was able to get cash from his debit card. This credit card is connected to his ship card so now he can't access that account either! What a mess this is! He may have to go a couple of weeks without access to his money. Anyone… Continue

17 Days in Boot Camp

My son has been in Navy basic training for seventeen days today (Friday, August 10, 2012) and I've missed our conversations, but I know he's going to have many stories to tell when we do talk again.  When I think of him I say a prayer and move on with activities in my daily life.  No news is good news.  It's been an honor to be his dad.  And a little pain in the butt too.  God Bless America

As the weekend is here....

Well almost here (8 hours of work first) I'm feeling the pain of my son being gone.  We would be deciding what movie to see this week, what the special meal would be, and what each of us are doing.  But not today...he is at BC and I'm here missing him.

I was so excited last night with his…

~Day 3 since My SR left~

Its been 3 days since my son left for boot camp and its getting a little easier. I still have my moments of sadness but in my heart I am so proud of my son and his decision to join the Navy!

'The box' made its appearance today and everything my son left with was in the box along with a few extras like his boarding pass, a rubber band, and a piece of sticker from his Navy issued socks. I got a giggle out of it, its so like him to do something like this. :) Always finding ways to make…

Week 5

My boy has now been gone from home for 5 weeks and he only has 3 more weeks until he graduates from boot camp. What a ride so far, and it is not even over.

His last 2 letters have been MUCH more positive. The one we got today even had him laughing a bit. He wishes he could write more, but he has his responsibilities.

I've heard from one of the other moms that his Division has won an important flag. :)

I've learned to be careful with how much I share to whom and…

Does anyone have a spouse in the military who acts like they are better than them since they enlisted?

Looking around this site I've noticed nothing but positivity which is great! I was nothing short of proud of my husband when he joined the navy, graduated boot camp, graduated A school and is about to start respiratory tech C school. Although not all can and will be good; especially for the wife, who in my opinion has the hardest job of all. A couple of months after joining I've started to see subtle…

I'm thrilled to say I did not run behind the bus begging to go to GL with my son!  I'm also thrilled to say he is on his way to GL...little scared, a little excited.
