Ship 02  Div 912:  Looking forward to seeing everyone at graduation.  Anyone else in the same boat? "no pun intended-well maybe"

It sounds like div 071 won't be in this PIR, he's been there since 12/12, does this mean another week of P-days?

The 2/10/2012 graduation date is posted on the RTC website. :)

I still have not received the form letter (pity my poor mailman...I have been stalking him!) but based on info from my son's recruiter, he's on Ship 11 Div 065 so I'm pretty sure we'll be in this group.  Thanks to all the moms who are contributing here (and dads, too).  You are making this so much easier on us.  While we await news from our SRs, you give us what we need to imagine what they're doing.  Blessings to you all!

Thanks for the vimeo below...it made me cry of course.  I'm not sure if we can even make it to graduation because of distance and work, but after seeing that, I really want to try to make it.  It would be wonderful to see.

Thought I would give you all a peek at what lies ahead for you.  This is a video produced by a lady who does that for a living....and this is of her son, last summer.

Enjoy and anticipate!  Only difference is that your new sailors will be in their DRESS BLUES!

loves.....:  Hang in there.  It is an emotional rollercoaster, for sure.  But it gets better...as they start accomplishing alot and sound more excited in letters/calls, you get caught up in it. This won't happen until about week 4 of training, but will will happen! It is really such a good time for them to "grow up" no matter how old they are.  They are away from all that makes them comfortable right now...very hard for them but they sure learn to appreciate it like never before!

So hang in there...write LOTS of letters...ready to mail when you have the form letter address.  Keep your phone handy at all times...calls come randomly.  And know that you have ladies on here who understand you.  This is NOT like sending a child to college...as hard as that is.  With no contact with the SRs, it is a whole different situation.  But we understand here...and there are always "listening ears" waiting on this board to help.  So post when you need to, cry when you need to....PIR will make it all worth it!  It is phenomenal!

Hugs!

My son is ship 4, div 805...anyone else out there with a son there?  I'm so much sadder than I thought I would be.  I'm not usually one to cry much, but I find myself tearing up constantly, every time I think about him.  I still can't believe he's doing this.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on December 19, 2011 at 9:26am

It is awesome that some of you have received calls. They must have been very good and Santa RDC gave them a very nice present :-D. I hope more of you get calls today.

My sailor was up at bootcamp for Thanksgiivng and Christmas in 2009.  Yes, it is tough...first time he had ever missed being with family on those days.  It helped that he got to call me on Thanksgiving (only for 5 minutes but it was wonderful!) and on Christmas Eve.  But still...that empty "spot" is hard.  But with the military, it is something we have to get use to.

My son was going to miss his 3rd Thanksgiving this year with our family...but spur of the moment, I decided to leave my extended family celebration this year and fly up there to be with him for a couple of days.  So glad I did that...not the same for him as being here with everyone, but at least he had "mom" there!  :-)

So you will find ways to remind your SRs/sailors that you love them and are thinking of them!
