eliza: I assume the address you got was from his recruiter? You can write to that one, but just make sure to compare it to the form letter's address as sometimes there are changes (dont worry...he will get the other letters...but letters are held from all of them for the first 2 weeks anyway...and if the address is not correct, may take a while to track him down). But maybe you already received the form letter and the correct address? If so, you are GOOD TO GO!
mreed:> I so agree with FTLW's comments. The SRs are almost in SHOCK when they arrive at bootcamp...especially those with no military background in their families and maybe little time in DEP. Encouragement for them needs to be constant. Hopefully, your daughter will make friends with a couple of her shipmates...that makes a difference. By training week 4 (which is about 5-6 weeks after they arrive), there is a turnaround and they start sounding better. The "breakdown" process is over...remember, these RDCs have all of these SRs from all different places, ages, backgrounds, etc...and they must get them all on the "same page". So that process is hard for all. But by training week 4, they are on the "buildup" part of the process and you will see this change reflected in the tone of the letters/calls. So hang in there...it gets much better!
Good morning, all! Happy Sunday!
A totally awesome video... (Craig (retired Navy, helps on this site) found this...Thank You Craig!)
I am saying Good Morning now as I will be busy most of the day! On baby duty at Church and then attending service. Then home to catch up on life! I'll be checking in later! Have a Wonderful Day!
Wow, this group is amazing! I love all the information
How to change your Privacy Settings, Username, Picture and URL
You can make your Profile Page (My Page - third tab over at the very top under the N4M banner) viewable only to your friends. There are other privacy settings too.
Go to: "Settings". “Setttings” is over to the far right underneath your username where you sign out of N4M's.
Click it. Once it takes you there...this is your Profile page where you can change your picture, username, “about me” comments etc. to the left is a list...now click Privacy...read through and change your settings to how you would like them.
To change your picture you must have the new picture you want to use stored in your picture library on your computer. Click “Browse”. It will open a new box for you to upload a new photo. Select your pic and open it. It will load it and then ask you to edit/crop it. Click “Save”. If you are done click “Save” at the bottom right of your profile page…if not, make any other changes …but then remember to “Save” when you are done.
To change your user name…simply type in a new one…but I recommend checking your URL if you had any part of your real name in it originally.
Don’t forget to “Save” each time you make changes…when you do it correctly…N4M’s will post a note saying so.
Change your URL(=web address)
If you need to change your URL - Web Address - you can do this on the My Page heading on the list. I recommend this if you had your last name on your username but have changed it as you probably did not change your web address. The URL is automatically set with whatever username you first chose when you joined N4M's.
To see your web address go your profile page on N4M’s…”My Page” and look up in the address bar.
This is my web address:
http://www.navyformoms.com/profile/FTLW
It originally looked like this
http://www.navyformoms.com/profile/fireteamwife
Once you change it though...the previous one won't work if you have given it out. That's not a problem on here mostly if you have given it out off site. To see that click both of mine to see what happens.
