I'm only bringing 1 pair of jeans & a couple shirts. If she can't have them, I'll just take them back home.

When I talked to my daughter last week she said NOT to bring her clothes, I am now very confused.

Mine is 063 & asked for civies, but she's staying at GL & will check in to school PIR day.

Has anyone else in Div 063 heard from their SR re: what G's Mom posted below?  Just seems very odd, unless there are some security issues now that they want to protect the sailors from.  But I know that many will arrive at PIR to see their sailors w/out civilian clothes for them...so what does that mean?  I'm thinking that this is a very good question to ask on RTC FB or to call Public Affairs Office about - 847-688-2405

I thought it was weird too! But he said this request came from his RDC. Also said he will have to change at the airport when he arrives at his destination before going on post. So seems like a lot of changing clothes. We are planning on hitting the airport to see him off. I guess I will bring them then, I doubt he will be able to take them back to base after PIR or leave base wearing them. Confusing!!! I thought it would be fun for him to receive a "little" attention!

Ok, G's Mom:  I must have missed something in the posts.  I thought all who were traveling to A School have to be in uniform?  That was the way it was when my son was there. I know that my sailor now doesn't like to wear his uniform when traveling on leave due to the reason you mentioned (too much attention drawn to him).  I will say...traveling in uniform sometimes has its perks...one friend's sailor was upgraded to first class once onboard.  The last time my son came home on leave, he was actually pulled out of the security line (not in uniform, remember) and searched randomly, even had hands dusted for whatever. 

Also, in civilian clothes, they have to wait in same lines with other passengers for security, but in uniform, they have separate screening (quick) and usually don't have to remove their shoes.

From the info we have received about Ramada's MeetNGreet vs Sarge's in past groups.  Ramada's is low-key, in the lounge area of the hotel, and a great place to meet other N4Moms families as well as families attending PIR the next day who are not on N4Moms (may not even know about it).  I understand that Sarge's is also for socializing, but that there is a part where he gives lots of info, kind of lecture-style.  Many don't want to sit through this, whereas others appreciated the info.   My suggestion would be to go to Sarge's from 5-6:30, and then head over to the Ramada's for the rest of it, if you don't want the info part of Sarge's (which I believe is later in the 5-10 MeetNGreet).

When my son was there, he didn't tell me to bring civilian clothes either.  I didn't.  But some just bring a few for their sailors to put on after a shower, etc while relaxing for a while in the room.  Even though what goes on in the room is private, some may be too scared to do this (wear civies in the room) if they are told to be in full uniform at all times on PIR Day. .
