These are their rates, Oceans...E1 is a SR ( Seaman Recruit)

E2 is a SA (Seaman Apprentice)      E3 is a  SN (Seaman)

Comment by Oceans3 on February 3, 2012 at 4:51pm

W#hat does that mean E-1, E-2, E-3..my daughter mentioned which one she was in a letter, but wasn't sure what it meant.

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on February 3, 2012 at 3:21pm

I would do the same rivermom for now. What will his rate/pay grade be after BC? E-1, E-2, E-3.

Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on February 3, 2012 at 1:59pm

rivermom, I would still put SR on the letter, to be on the safe side.  Btw, ladies if you have written letters during the last week or two of BC and they do not receive them while in BC, they will be forwarded to their A school locations.

Need help ASAP--one last stupid question!

Now that my son is a sailor, what do I put (abbreviation or spell out) in front of his name on the envelope? No longer "SR".   The mail pick up is in 5 minutes.  Please help--he needs to get this before PIR.  Thanks so much!!!

Comment by memphis.mom SHIP07 DIV 064 on February 3, 2012 at 1:40pm

Thanks diannep - he said he listed different names than the original form letter - he listed my 11 year old daughter who doesn't need to be on - listed my husband who isn't going but my parents are!  He was going to try to talk to someone yesterday after he hung up - I would just die if my dad flies there and doesn't get to sit with us or doesn't get in!  Getting anxious - 1 week from today we will by lunching with our Sailors!!

Comment by Katiem on February 3, 2012 at 1:30pm

I also received the I am a Sailor call!  One week to Graduation and I can't wait!!

Comment by diannep on February 3, 2012 at 1:09pm

memphismom:  On your original form letter, did he have 4 names written in?  They are allowed to update before PIR.  Maybe today.  But don't worry...even if he doesn't make changes, your guests will be ok with proper ID.  Worse that can happen is that they may have to wait until others are seated before going in, but that sometimes doesn't happen and they can go right in.  I wouldn't worry.

When I got my "I'm a sailor" call yesterday.  My son said he hadn't every gotten the letter listing who is attending PIR.  He was going to try yesterday to straighten it out - does anyone know if it's too late??  He obviously won't be able to call me and let me know.  How do I find out if my parents are on the list or not?

Comment by diannep on February 3, 2012 at 8:59am

Thanks for the kind words, Malia.

Have your checked your SR's FB?  Sometimes they post on there if they can't get to the phones.  You can try to call the Public Affairs office as well to see if they can tell you if you have a sailor.  Tell them that division did BattleStations on Tuesday night and you have heard nothing:
