I will be back on here later today. My mother was taken to the hospital last night. She was doing much better when I left there at midnight, so hopefully she will be discharged today. I'm heading there now.
dianne, I have been praying for them and thinking of them all morning.
Thank you ladies for your suggestions about my son's Orders. He does have a tv, car and I'm sure a lot of other stuff that he will have to deal with. I'm going to call him tonight to discuss some of that with him. If he does drive his car to Washington, it would actually make perfect sense for him to stop home on the way (at least in mom's mind ) He would be traveling from Pensacola to Washington, so Maryland is kinda on the way.
I have read on the Stennis' FB page that they are leaving the area of the Arabian Sea, which means that they are heading home. I'm sure that it will probably still be a few weeks before it returns to WA, but maybe he won't even have to meet up with the ship until it comes back? At least that's what I'm hoping.
Good Morning, ladies. FTLW has been kind enough to set up a discussion page on PIR 1/20 in memory of their fallen SR. Please feel free to visit it and post your condolences to the family. His fiance and we think his mom were a part of N4Moms. Please pray for that PIR group today. It is 1 degree in GL and snow is expected all day. Their hearts are excited yet heavy for the loss of Christopher. Lala made beautiful white ribbons in memory of him for them to wear.

yep, I will do my best to get one posted tomorrow, it probably won't be the same color because so far the whites one have only been ordered with the Anchor :-)
Yeah lori, several ordered them that way. The only pictures I have posted have just been of the scarves with the anchor, not the DIV numbers yet :-) So depending on what you "think" you saw will determine whether you are "loosing it" or not lol The scarf for your division is White with a Navy anchor, several have ordered them. Her is what it looks like :)
Same with mine Diannep, mine had a week after verbal before she got the written orders but she also got to come home first. I can tell you once the written orders were in her hand she didn't have very much time to get everything ready. So, if he has stuff to take care of tell him to do it now. Sometimes Sailors, especially if A-school is a few months, buy stuff like cheap TV's and things they can't travel with then they sell them to other Sailors. Time to get his ducks in a row. I am sure you will have him home in a few days, my fingers are crossed and prayers for you as well :-)
well, I didn't mean to come home" between verbals and writtens" as that doesn't happen. I guess I meant if he is held for a longer time, maybe his ship would return and there would be no problem with his leave. I think he will get some leave regardless...just my unsolicited what-do-I-know opinion! :-)
Betsy, I bet he will get to come home first. Our mutual friend's son was able to come home after school even though his ship was deployed. He will catch up with it next week. Let's hope the same is true for your sailor!
There was a huge lag between my son's verbals and written. Happened to all of them waiting on orders, it seemed. They were told that the person who prepared them was on vacation for a week or so, and that delayed them...and then they had a flood on the base where all of the orders are prepared. So maybe that was why the hold was so long.
Hoping it won't be long for your son...or maybe long enough to come home. :-)
Verbal orders are orders that are not written "in stone" ...they are what is planned (usually comes down from the CO from what I can see) but not official until written on hard copy on the correct form. Anything can change verbal orders; time, circumstances, medical/physical testing, etc.
Betsy...hang in there momma! I know...I'm in the waiting game (mine is a reservist, but a Seabee...so I know a deployment is coming sometime). I know you're numb...we're here for you!
I hope he gets to come home before he gets on board ship. It's all new to me as far as ships go and I don't know how soon they redeploy.
NJBlasian, he told me that he was told, that he would be going to WA, but won't be given his hard copy Orders until he is checked out of medical and dental on base. This is all new to me too, so I am learning as we go.
