Ocesns3 - my daughter has spoken highly of her RDCs & Chief as well. She said the understandably get upset & IT them when they don't meet expectations or is talking when they shouldn't, but that they are fair. It is nice to hear.

Oceans3 - Thank you for posting that! I did it a while ago...another member had posted it...I'll have to remember to keep it going for each PIR group as it is the most amazing number I have ever seen! Everybody WATCH it!

This was shown on our morning announcements at shcol yesterday.  It is so worth watching.  They save the best branch for last and it is the coolest. :)

In all of my daughter's letters she has written about all of her RDCs with the utmost respect. She does say they can be brutal at times, but she seems fully aware of why they are the way they are and truly respects what they do.

I agree, memphismom.  Those games happen!  Whatever it takes to motivate the SRs to comply, listen, focus, and work their way into sailor status. You will see that accomplished, in person, on 2/10/12!

Ladies, I always say that you have to remember that these are young men/women from all backgrounds, life experiences, expectations, personalities, etc....that come together, many away from home for the first time, and it is up to the RDCs to get them operating as sailors and a team.  Not an easy task...each RDC has his/her own way of doing this, tweaked for different situations.  I think if we had a small video of these divisions when they first arrive, and then watch them at the end of bootcamp and at PIR, well...you would see:  Mission accomplished!  It truly is amazing.  I have the utmost respect for the RDCs!  They are intimidating and frustrating to the SRs in the beginning, as the breakdown process is going on within the division.  Then as the build-up process begins and continues, they see the positive role these leaders have in their lives....and at the capping ceremony (held right after BattleStations), there are big smiles from these RDCs as they hand each sailor his/her NAVY cap to replace that RECRUIT cap.  HOOYAH!

I haven't put any slashes in any of my letters, I have sent a bunch of letters and my son is getting them in a bout 4 days after post mark - he hasn't said anything about the slashes in the 0's so I am thinking this may be a mind game thing on another division?

Yep, they will lose a day in the training because of the holiday on Monday, but don't worry...they get it done in time.  The ones who were there over Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years holidays, like my son was back in 2009/2010...now-- that was hard.  Bootcamp was longer because of all of the days lost...he was so ready to get out of there!
