So ladies...re: what Arwen posted, I know now why some people are told by the hotel that there is no shuttle when they call to ask---when I know that if fact, that hotel does have the shuttle service. Be sure to ask if they use the "PIR shuttle service" at their hotel as opposed to asking if they have their own shuttle. I know most have the PIR service. When I checked into Residence back in early 2010, I asked if they had shuttle service to PIR. They said they did and asked me which one I wanted to be on (chose the earliest one---6:30---and had no regrets!). A family friend who had been there a yr before took the "shuttle" from Courtyard and told me absolutely...do that. Shuttle was easy and cheap!
Good morning everyone!
ahhh come on FTLW, you know she meant me.... hahahehehaahehehaha lmao No, really you amaze me. I dub you FTLW as N4M's Volunteer of the month Yay!!!! and guess what..... This honor comes with free parking right up next to the door of this lovely establishment :-D
See here is the space I would put a really cool widget If I knew how to do that lol.
You sweet thing...my reward is being able to help you! I know what it is like to "feel" all alone in this...and when the support came ...it's like this weight taken off of you.
Awesome, thank you so much for helping with everything.. It is so appreciated by us all! :) Can we like nominate you for an award or something?
I just had a confirm that Ohio street was used at the 12/29/2011 PIR. Parking was also in the structure. Thank you to the mom who helped me!
okay, I am off to bed, I will be up very early working on ribbons and scarves :-) Our local forecast is low of 17, high tomorrow is 33. Only a few flurries are expected..... but guess what the weather man is wrong again :-) The ground is totally white and it is pouring snow lol. They never get it right in the mountains of NC. Goodnight everyone.
I DID have to return my Sailor to the Paking lot closer to the Chapel on the first night. That was the only time they let me drive from the Ohio street entrance across base. After that each day I had to park in the parking structure and walk all the way across and pick him up in the NEX.
Illinois was never open the three days of liberty that my Sailor had.
BTW when you go to either Mapquest...zoom in and take a peek around! LOL
I'll ddelete the old one I have for less confusion
Their is a correction to the Mapquest that I have for Navy Lodge to RTC Gate 8 entrance. It takes you to the GPS of 3355 Illinois...which takes you into the Ohio street entrance then to 3355 Illionois. So I have corrected it to just the Ohio entrance. It does this dumb little curve thing at the end of it... ignore that...since the Gate Shack doen't have a mailing address that's the best it will do. The point I am trying to make is that entrance in May was on Ohio Street. You then made a right into RTC to the Gate Shack...after they check for your ID and gate pass, you then proceed straight for a little and then make a left hand curve that doubles back and then travel on to the Parking Structure. My apologies group!

This is the entrance that was used in May of 2011. Illinois entrance was not used then and not for several months after as I checked with the moms after PIR. I will check with the most recent graduating PIR group to see which entrance was used.
I believe Illinois entrance was used in the past as parking used to be on that side of the base by the Chapel. You then had to walk all the way across the base to the Visitors Center and Midway Hall.
In May we parked in a covered parking structure that is adjacent to the Visitors Center.
In the map below you see Midway Hall in magenta, then to it's left the VC in green attached to it and then the black grid lines to the left would be the Parking structure ( it also has an uncovered area for overflow. There are elevators and handicapped parking in the structure)
Now, go across the Fields to the Chapel on the left then it says Parking Lot for Graduation. The street that runs in front of it is Illinois entrance street. See the two dark red dots...then to the right is a red oval that marks that gate.
