I hear ya lovestocrochet! I'm from the west coast do it was a pretty penny! I think it cost less to birth the boy and I had a c- section! BOTH were worth it!
It's such a pivotal moment and oh my...your new Sailor will be so proud to have his whole family there!
My hubby couldn't attend PIR as he was deployed and I felt so bad. So, when it came time for "A" school grad, we decided just he should go. Cost wise too...but we really wanted one of us to be there. I'm glad as it was more intimate and the CO spoke with him. They ask if you have family there...not many make it to "A" school grad. He wore his uniform and I was able to book him home on the same flight as our son. I wish I could've seen them together! I think there's pics...Dang, I forgot to look! LOL

I agree with Lala, navyfriend.  So great that you write and encourage her!

MartyB:  Thinking they are at the end of Training week 1/beginning of Training week 2.  When you hear from your SR, ask what training week/day they are on that day and mark it on the calendar.  Remember, weekends don't count (they are in "hold" then) so you are just dealing with weekday counts.  Days are numbered 1-5.  If they are on week 1/Day 4 (1-4) today, they will be on 1-5 most likely on Tuesday since Monday is a federal holiday. Holidays don't count either and back them up a day in the count.  There are 6 training weeks; they PIR during week 7.

I've booked the weekend of PIR at the Navy Lodge.  We weren't even planning on coming, but just these first 3 weeks really have changed my mind.  I really want to be there.  Now my husband is considering bringing the whole family and making it our family vacation.  Sounds expensive.

that is awesome navyfriend, it is so good to see friends who are so supportive :-)

Darcie- get yourself to the Dr girl, dang 3 weeks? Sounds like you need medicine. I hope you feel better soon.

Does anybody know approximately what week-day ship 068 might be in? Trying to keep up with where they are hy haven't gotten a letter or call yet that might give me some indication. Thanks!

Thanks McJane, just hope it is soon! I really really need to get my happy-self to the doctors :( Been sick about 3 weeks now, pretty miserable and its only getting worse.

Comment by McJane on December 30, 2011 at 4:34am

Darcie,

We have not. It will probably come next week. They have to go to the class on filling out all those papers this week. It will come. You will get it. I just went through this about six months ago and it comes about a week after the first real letters come.

I am a friend of a sailor on ship 7 div. 63. I just got my first letter from her today!! I am so excited!! I can't wait to write back to her now. She says they are so busy in there that she forgets what real life is like, so she wants me to tell whats been going on outside the walls that surround her. Yea!!! I am one happy lady!!

Comment by Malia on December 30, 2011 at 12:20am

That's awesome DarcieR. That was so funny that he actually put his cat as one of the invitees.  :) To answer your earlier question, yes I am going to be at Sarge's meet and greet. We are staying at Residence Inn so it is very close by. Don't think we are going to be able to attend both Sarge's and Ramada.
