For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by G's Mom (Jen) Ship 07 Div 063 on December 29, 2011 at 6:43pm: Received 3 letters today in Indiana! My son says they can only write two each week and the first was written on the 19th. Couldn't mail out until Tuesday! So hang in there, they are making their way across the country! On December the 22nd his group was in Week 1 Day 5! Says his first call home will be on New Year's Day!!! Hope all goes well so they can call!!!

Comment by rivermom on December 29, 2011 at 6:39pm: Received a letter from my SR. HOORAY! It is dated 12-26 and it is one of those "fill in the blanks" letters I took off the N4M web site. It worked! He sounds good but challenged and they are definitely being worked hard.

Overall, affirmative but clearly these are tough days and this is a totally new experience.

Keep those cards and letters going! Praying you all hear from your SRs soon. ( I am still clicking my heels! :) :) :)

Comment by McJane on December 29, 2011 at 4:53pm: Slowly she creeps towards the mailbox....she finds a nice hiding place almost like a hunting blind. She lays in wait for the mail carrier. Today would be a bad day for the postal service to be late. The anticipation builds as the time moves ever so slowly. She checks her watch....oh it is only 12:52 PST...dang those east coasters they get the mail so much earlier. Well there are prices to be paid for living on the left coast. At least two more hours before the mail comes. Enough time to watch a movie or stare at the mailbox. Whatever shall she do.....I guess just write crazy posts on N4M. Thank you for listening to me...

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on December 29, 2011 at 3:41pm: I read that at least one mom from DIV 806 received letters today as well. So you may have letters waiting on you. If not tomorrow should be a good letter day as well :-) I bet they all had time to write during Christmas and I know how much you are looking forward to those letters. Sometimes in the first letters they will be feeling a little down and homesick. But try not to worry too much. This is normal for the first few weeks of bootcamp and it will get better as each week passes.

They are a great way to show your support and how proud you are of your Sailor. (some wear to meet and greet as well) They aren't too frilly so men will wear them too lol. They are a good way to recognize other people who also have a Sailor in the same DIV and they make a great keepsake. There are some pics here on my page and more pics on my facebook page Unique Memory Makers. Just click on photos and then look through the albums. For more info you can send me a friend request on this site or send me an email to: uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com here is a pic of one of the ribbons so you can see them up close. They come with gold or silver accents. Thanks :-)
