still no letter...:(
Got another letter from my SR today! He had 2 days of downtime due to having his wisdom teeth removed. He passed his physical.. I am so proud that he is working so hard! I just pray that his next test goes smoothly.
Hope all our SR's are doing good. :) It makes me tear up thinking about all the trials they have laid out before them... but I know they are up to the task.
----
Also, he keeps getting picked for sentry duty.. He thought it was because they were made at him, he asked, its because he does it too well. He said he needs to start messing up more!
Thank you for the information. It really helps, going to start making plans after work today. And I am sure of he is ship 11 div 62.. was on his return address :).. So here we go, fingers crossed and hoping for the best!
No, they aren't, NJ. Training days are only M-F. Holidays don't count either. So training days are numbered 1-5. If you get a training week/day number from your SR for a particular date, jot it on your calendar. You can keep track that way. I believe yesterday was treated as a holiday...although RTC FB said both...it was a training day and then later said it wasn't a training day. Hoping someone can ask them again, but thinking that yesterday was not a training day. So they would have moved them back one day in their "day count." Don't worry...they get it all done before PIR. With the holidays, bootcamp for these groups is a bit longer (not the training days but length of time there) because of the holidays. My son had Thanksgiving tucked into his so that made it even longer.
Darcie: I would bring as many guests as you like. Like Arwen said, the guest list is adjusted/confirmed shortly before PIR. But even if all names aren't on it, with proper ID, most all of the extras get in. They possibly may have to wait until others on the lists are in (waiting in the Visitors Center on base), but they usually still get in. We have seen groups as large as 13 divisions on here have no extra guests turned down. So I would do it.
If you can book your flights with Southwest, either into Chicago-Midway or Milwaukee (we suggest Milwaukee---usually cheaper and no-traffic drive to GL)...then you would have no change fee (if necessary) and you can check 2 bags for free. So I would definitely look into that. If your SR has confirmed to you that this is his PIR group, you could go ahead and book tickets if the price is right...and better if on Southwest in case his PIR date is changed (due to him being asmoed(setback) for any reason). The hotels have very liberal cancellation/change policies so you can go ahead and book them. Residence will let you cancel up to 24 hrs before (I think---it was that way when we were there).
Good Morning, All!
The recruits turn in their four official guests for the list around the 5th week. You still have time to work this out. Plus, with the smaller PIR groups that there have been lately, RTC will almost certainly allow extra guests, with ID, etc.
I live in Kansas, he said to me and his mom in separate letters that he sent the invite to me.. that I should have it already.. So we should just go ahead and make plans and go with the flow and hope for the best?
But yea, we are pretty sure that the invite is lost since it hasn't shown up anywhere yet, post office doesn't know anything either.
I'm not sure about airlines - I would go on the airline website and look at the rules. Your other option would be to just go - you do not have to be on the list I don't think - I am not really sure of your situation - did your letter get lost in the mail? Is it close enough for you to drive? We are driving even though it is 10 hours.
More worried about who to get plane tickets for... or do you know if they are willing to change "who's" ticket it is pretty willingly?
